Sunbonnet Sue and her Butterflies are done and for sale!

Okay, now that that's done (!!!) I'm going to finish up the dolly dress quilts and make a little doll quilt for my niece's 4th birthday.... and that gets me wondering if I should start designing doll quilts to sell with the baby quilts? hmmmm....

In the works...

Here's Sue with her new borders and still waiting for some appliqued butterflies to fly around the white border.

And here are two dolly dress quilts (the dolls are from the dolly dress cheater panels) and they've been sewn with the patterned blocks for ages, but I added the borders today. I think some pretty little flowers may be appliqued onto the white border. I hope these will eventually end up keeping twin baby girls nice and warm :)

Sue and her butterflies - Part 1

This is what I've been working on the last week. This is just the center of the quilt, which I haven't finished designing yet. I think it will have to have a very wide border with appliqued butterflies flying around... maybe some caterpillars? toadstools? ladybugs?

The butterfly pattern came from here - it was love at first site! http://fourwisemonkeys.blogspot.com/2010/08/tutorial-butterfly-block.html

lucky day!

It just "sew" happens that I had $47 left in my paypal account, and this morning I found a mother's day weekend coupon code at Sew Mama Sew for 15% off everything in your cart, and finally the long awaited Sew Cherry was available at their store... I bought  a quarter yard of each (minus 3) fabrics in the line, and minus the 15%, pluss shipping came to $47.80!! I hope the rest of my day goes that well. It's going to be a CRAZY long day with boy activities. Off to the first baseball game of the season!

What the heart and eyes want!!

yum yum yum... The gnome fabric is to die for (I'm crazy for gnomes) And the Sunbonnet Sue fabric is very timely as I'm starting to work on a new quilt with a Sue in the center, surrounded by butterflies and flowers... and the Sew Cherry is just awesome. I've been waiting a while for this line to come out - makes my knees buckle... Hopefully I will make these all mine :)

Birdhouse Baby Quilt

This one is finally done, and listed in my etsy shop. I love it, and wish I had a baby girl to give it to! Perhaps if it doesn't sell right away, I'll tuck it away in the attic and save it for a grand daughter... I'm crossing my fingers (but not for atleast 20 years since my boys are only 7, 4 and 3!)

Jessica's quilt - done!

I finished this comissioned quilt last night and shipped it off this morning to its new home in Florida. I wish I could have fit in the shipping box with it - it's way too cold here! Spring, where are you???

Victory Garden!

I am an anglophile. For a while I was lucky to visit England every 2 years over a 12 year period - to study abroad for a semester in college, work in London for a summer, hike the Lake District with my Dad, and to see my Dad's choral group sing at Royal Albert Hall...My last trip was 11 years ago when I went with my sister and we cried across the country having just come off broken engagements - both of us!! Anyway, I've been really, really itching to go, and since we weren't invited to the royal wedding, hubby and I have decided to go next year to celebrate our 10 yr. anniversary. Anyway, I've been trying to put off the purchase of this pattern, http://www.mkquiltdesigns.com/pattern%20pages/p-victorygarden.html but couldn't hold out any longer. I don't think there's anything cuter than the Union Jack. The quilt will be made, and may not look this pretty, but it will be loved, and remind me that a trip across the pond is coming!!

Play School Quilt

I finally finished this one up, and it's on etsy!

And I'm happy to report that I could photograph it outside because it's finally spring here and our snow is 99.9% gone!!!!!! - Of course it's going to be 47 and raining tommorrow, but the last few days have been great and the boys are getting lots of outside time!!

Susan's quilt

Here is my latest project (and picture of my dog :)  - a quilt for my mother-in-law's Reiki studio. This is my first time working with Batiks - something I probably won't do again, but I think it's turning out nicely.

Block 1-16 ~ Block-a-Palooza

block 16

blocks 1-16

I'm all done, but not quite... I fear I used too many fabrics here and they don't all work together... If I'd just stuck with just Flower Sugar, I'd be all set, but I added in Delilah (which has been okay) and Red Rose Farm, and the colors are just off. So, I think I shall be redoing a bunch of the squares before sewing them all together!!

My big boy is turning 7!

The birthday cake with family and friends...
Hope all his wishes come true this year!

good bye, my love....

So I finished this last night (I tied it with embroidery floss, which is my norm, and then gave it a wash)  and it went home with the inlaws today after my biggest boys' 7th birthday party. I was very sad to see it go! But I think I have enough fabric leftover to make another down the road (yea!) AND now I have a check burning a hole in my pocket... and shopping carts VERY full at fabricshack and sewmamasew :)

Next up is a throw size quilt for my mother in law's Reiki studio. I will be working with batiks, which she gave me today, for the first time. It will be quite a departure from what I'm used to!

Block 15 ~ Block-a-Palooza

This one might be my favorite. I'm a sucker for whirlygigs, and this one was so easy to make. I see a whole quilt made up of this pattern in my near future!! Just one more clock to go!
